Here is the answer to a frequently asked question: “How to create a new thread?”
When you create a new account, you start at Trust Level 0, which has some restrictions, including the ability to create new threads. To unlock this, you must reach Trust Level 1. You can usually achieve this by engaging with the forum as follows:
- Visiting at least 5 different topics.
- Reading at least 30 posts.
- Spending about 10 minutes reading (check your stats in your profile summary to track this).
These are the usual default settings, but forum admins can change these requirements, so it might vary. But you can reach Trust Level 1 pretty quickly if you know these little details! 
Alternatively, you can ask an admin to promote you to Trust Level 1 right away. They are usually kind enough to do this when they see such a request. I guess this thread could be a good place to do so (it would be less off-topic than other threads 
).
