Voicemail transcription is down, so voicemails aren't being emailed

VOIP.MS voicemail transcription is down as of 510pm Eastern time today. It was down early yesterday, then fixed, then it broke again at midday today.

When it’s down, voicemail boxes that have transcription turned on don’t only lack transcription: the messages are not emailed if you have email turned on for messages. Sometimes when transcription is turned back on, the backlog of voicemails are transcribed and emailed all at once. (However, sometimes the backlog is permanent: the voicemails and transcriptions are never emailed.)

For about three years, failed voicemail transcription has been a regular problem at VOIP.MS. I’ve now advised my clients who use VOIP.MS to turn off voicemail transcription indefinitely. If I see that transcription works flawlessly for a whole year in the future, I might suggest that they turn it back on.

I don’t receive enough voicemails to notice it being down (or not) recently.

I do have transcription turned on. I appreciate being able to read the voicemails silently without playing the audio.

Yes we have exactly the same problem, but we are down since 2025-11-18 11:25 EST.

I have a ticket open since then and the last update I have is ‘We are still working on the problem’

I’m still waiting on them to know if we lost half a day of voice messages.

I tried to transcribe a live call tonight (two short calls, both under three minutes) and both failed. I got a transcript for a voicemail I received a couple of days ago,

Anyone else having problems with transcriptions today?

Yes, it was down for me too. I failed to receive an email alert or transcription for an incoming call around 7:00 AM last evening (Dec 24). It’s been a pretty rare issue for me.
