State of MMS over SIP

Is there a plan to support MMS over SIP in the near future? It’s not very clear to me what technical challenges are in the way of making this happen, maybe someone with more experience here could provide insight?

For new applications being developed now, will the voipms HTTP relay for MMS continue to be supported in the future?

I’m using the open source Linphone client for MMS. I use a gateway between it and voip.ms. See GitHub - RVgo4it/mmsgate: MMSGate is a MMS message gateway between VoIP.ms and Linphone clients. for details.
