I live in Tokyo and my sister lives in Boston. One of my DIDs is a Boston DID. I turned DND off and had my sister call me. The voice quality was perfect! It sounded like she was in the room. Very nice!
Then I had her leave me a voicemail. And it was the same experience I had when I left test voicemails from two other numbers. The sound was very muffled and somewhat hard to understand. This is in the voicemail that was sent by email.
That’s too bad. I know the voicemails I get from TextNow and Talkatone (both VoIP apps) are very clear.
In a separate topic an answer to my question said that recording phone calls, which I tested in Groundwire, was a Groundwire specific feature. I only recorded a second of a call. But I wonder if there is a way of doing that only via Groundwire. That way it would also be visual voicemail! Thanks.
Thank you for your inquiry. I will conduct a thorough investigation into the current status of the Voicemail system and will provide additional information in the post
VOIP.MS offers three audio formats for voicemail. I suggest that you try WAV. The attached image can guide you to make the change, which consists of these steps:
• Go to https://voip.ms/m/voicemail.php . On the line for your voicemail box, click the yellow pen-and-paper icon on the right. This brings up the box called CREATE NEW VOICEMAIL ACCOUNT (which is a misnomer: the account already exists). Click VIEW ADVANCED MODE, then under ATTACHMENT FORMAT, choose WAV, chen click the SAVE VOICEMAIL button.
Thanks for that hint. I have 2 DIDs and so instead of clicking on “Create new voicemail account” I just clicked on the yellow edit pencil on the line for each DID.
Then I saved both with WAV and made a test call to myself. It does sound noticeably clearer. And the 24 second voicemail attachment was only 387 KB.
