My house has an Orenco Septic system with a VCOM-AXA panel for remote monitoring via a phone line. When I bought the house, the phone line was never connected. I don’t want to pay for a landline just for monitoring this system so instead got a Grandstream 801 along with voip.ms service and was able to get it connected. I noticed the panel is making calls out on a regular basis, but all calls are reported as failed by voip.ms.
It looks like this panel isn’t actually making regular phone calls but instead has a modem. Does anyone know if analog modem over VOIP with voip.ms is supported, and if so what specific settings (codec, etc ) should I use on my Grandview ?
Already figured this out. I just had to set the CallerID. As soon as I did that, the Orenco system/panel registered itself as confirmed by the vendor and distributor. Very nice. Saving me the cost of a landline to monitor this system.
Hello - I was happy to see your post. I have an old Orenco septic panel circa 2008 that I want to move off of its analog phone line. I am also going to buy a Grandsteam device to try but I’ve heard VoIP often doesn’t work for these older units. Besides the caller ID, did you have to change any other settings to get it work? If it doesn’t work I’ll try a Pepline POTS adaptor.but then’ll I have to pay for another cell line.
I don’t believe I had to change any other settings besides basic config for voip.ms and the called ID setting. Let me know if you’re having trouble and I’ll be happy to check my Grandstream config.
