Have you tried creating a Sub Account and configuring your HT802 with that? This has been a solution for several of us.
I think the HT702 devices are going to be hit/miss. I got mine to respond and got into the settings this AM. Carefully entered the details per the wiki, saved stuff and rebooted.
And it never showed up again. Could see it on my router, BUT, refuses to provide VOIP and I cannot get back to the setting page. Just refuses.
I installed a HT802 for $55 from Amazon and things went better.
My HT702 for YEARS would require the occasional unplug to reset with VIOPO as well, after service went down and we got no calls for a day or so. I think its old hardware that is beyond its years. Last firmware was released in 2018. To recycling……
Berto you are awesome, thanks for this info it works now.
It must have something to do with the pw because my main pw (which i was told to use) does not even comply with the sub account setup requirements but whatever for now. Will try TLS tomorrow but for now thanks again. Now to go try to get my money back from VOIPo via paypal
I noticed the password issue too. It seems the main password lets you use certain characters that are not allowed in the sub-accounts. I thought maybe that was the issue with the main account not being able to register devices, but I changed the password and it still didn’t work.
Interesting, your comment about needing to reset the HT702. I had the same issue, but assumed it was my network. These devices are fairly inexpensive, so it may just be worth it to get a new one. Thanks!
You can reset device via keypad phone plugged into either line and powered up. No Ethernet cable. page 64
Using the IVR Command
Reset default factory settings using the IVR prompt:
1. Dial “***” for voice prompt.
2. Enter “99” and wait for “reset” voice prompt.
3. Enter the encoded MAC address (Look below on how to encode MAC address).
4. Wait 15 seconds and device will automatically reboot and restore factory settings.
What is the correct firmware for the HT702? I looked on the Grandstream website and this device is no longer supported. My ATA worked until voipo went out of business. Twice I followed exact instructions but now need support access from voip.ms.
It seems to be 1.0.10.3.
I got the firmware at “www dot grandstream dot com/support/firmware”
It won’t let me post links or pictures, so you’re gonna have to type that in your address bar correctly.
My unit upgraded fine with no issues, it just takes a while, so be patient.
Berto, I wish that was true for me. I had that firmware in my HT702. I just spent 2 hours on the Chat line and got nowhere with 2 Chat specialists. I opened a Ticket and hope that someone can help me.
Had the same problem. Received email from support. What were my problems:
- I use copy paste account number, it was trailing space. Just type account number in FSX port page for HT702;
 - In SIP password do not use symbols, just numbers and letters

After fixing these problems, finally I got status registered and can make calls.
Sorry to be long in replying. I am in vacation in the middle of nowhere with few opportunities for data.
Yeah, 1.0.4.x is not the latest (1.0.10.3). Check the following page and look for HT702:
Automatic update never worked for me.
Kind regards.
Yes, this is an encryption method; you have to select that type of “SIP transport” in the settings, and set up SRTP, and the sub account, etc. This is tricky to make work (often due to a forgotten detail) but works well and solves many network issues at the same time.
For the instruction, yeah this is different. If I remember, I used the ones in the screenshot (while making sure I have the basic settings on the text version).
Kind regards.
You sound like you have a solution. Where do you type the account number on the FSX column option please?

I found it. It doesn’t appear in the regular listing of firmwares available. You have to
- Go to the search option at the top right of the Grandstream page
 - write HT702
 - You’ll get a drop-down list of three options, the third being Firmware-Grandstream Networks. Click on it.
 - In the new screen, do a screen search for HT702. In my search, it was the second option. It appeared under a main heading “End of Life Products.”

Hope that helps. ![]()
Get SIP/IAX Main Username number from Main Account Setting and Information in Voip.ms portal.
Put it by typing in Grandstream Device Configuration (FXS Port1) as SIP User ID, put Authentication Password without symbols, just letters and numbers.
Good luck.
Hello Community,
I’ve been helping a great number of clients migrating from VOIPO to our service with both HT702/HT802, ill summarize all the aspects we noticed has helped in getting registration with our service from most basic information to slightly technical aspects, this is what we have verified so far:
Factory Reset your Device
A great majority of Ht708/HT802 devices coming from VOIPO have been manipulated for the previous configuration which basically mean the default admin access credentials would not work, we highly recommend to factory reset the device, usually by following simple steps as:
- Unplug the Ethernet cable from the device.
 - Locate the small reset hole on the back panel of the HT802.
 - Insert a paperclip or similar object into the hole and press and hold the reset button for approximately 7 seconds.
 - Release the button. The device will reboot and restore all settings to factory defaults.

Updating the firmware
VOIPO devices does usually have older firmwares, please update them to the latest according to link Firmware- Grandstream Networks
The device can be manually upgraded using a local directory by downloading the firmware file from the Grandstream website, unzipping it, and uploading the file (e.g., HT802fw.bin) directly from the phone’s web interface under Advanced Settings → Firmware Upgrade and Provisioning
Also. the HTTP firmware upgrade path for the HT802 is typically http://firmware.grandstream.com . For specific firmware versions, the path may include a version-specific directory, such as http://firmware.grandstream.com/ht802/ . The upgrade protocol can be set to HTTP by selecting it in the “Upgrade Protocol” setting, which is accessible within the “Firmware Upgrade and Provisioning” section of the web GUI.
After configuring the firmware server path, click “Upgrade, Apply and Reboot” to initiate the update process.
Configuring FSX port
Once you have landed over the FSX port 1 there are a few tweaks you can work with that usually our support team will go through.
- For Primary SIP Server and Outbound Proxy if the DNS name of the server does not work you can try using the server IP address instead, for example 208.100.60.17 instead of atlanta.voip.ms, this should work in case there is an issue with the DNS name translation

You can check our server complete list and IPs from https://wiki.voip.ms/article/Servers
-
For SIP User ID and Authenticate ID use your 6 digits number userid that can be found in the customer portal > main menu, portal home. Do not use the email address
 -
For SIP transport I would recommend using TCP over UDP all the time, this has solved issues such as not being able to dial out / in even after registration with UDP.
 -
For * NAT Traversal: set Keep-Alive
 -
For Local SIP port If 5060 is not allowing connectivity, you can use alternative sip port 5080, if you are planning to use TLS you do require to set 5061/5081

Network Firewall check
Verify your network for SIP ALG or SPI firewall active options , these can also be active in the router, if they are disable them.
Other good practices
I’ll highly recommend resetting the SIP password from the customer portal , Main menu, Account settings then Security tab by hitting “Set random Password and Send Email” , this is not all time mandatory but its better to have a separated password for your SIP device apart from the customer portal access, this also has helped over when connecting the device to our servers.
Additionally make sure the FSX port where your phone is plugged in does matches the one you configured, sometimes even this kind of small situations can be oversight.
If nothing else works
Contact support specifically for a Live Trace, we can verify if the registration attempts are reaching us through a trace, this is helpful in the diagnostic.
I’ve used several ex-Teksavvy Grandstream devices successfully with Voip.ms. Here are some things to watch for when moving devices between providers:
- After a factory reset, before connecting to the internet, check in Advanced Settings that the Config Server Path is blank, that the Firmware Server Path is
firmware.grandstream.comand that the upgrade protocol is HTTP. Otherwise the settings/firmware may unexpectedly revert to your previous provider. You should also consider deselecting the Automatic Upgrade and Randomized Automatic Upgrade options, and selecting Always Skip the Firmware Check. - In FXS Ports the SIP User Id and Authenticate ID should be your SIP username, and the Password should be your SIP password. (Always use a sub-account: it will make life simpler even if you are only using one account).
 - In Profile 1, make sure your Primary SIP Server matches your DID to receive incoming calls.
 - If you use a Failover SIP Server (so you can still make outgoing calls if the primary fails) make sure the Prefer Primary SIP Server option is not set to
No. - If you want to use encryption, make sure in Profile 1 the SIP Transport is set to TLS and the SRTP Mode is set to Enabled but not forced or Enabled and forced. On the subaccount, make sure encryption is enabled. If these don’t match you may either get a registration failure, or a failure of incoming/outgoing calls. On older devices you may also need to make sure Validate Server Certificates in Advanced Settings is
Noto allow for newer CA certificates. - Set NAT Traversal to
Keep-Alive. - Watch out for Profile 1 Call Features settings. These may be set to interpret
*XXcodes on the ATA (e.g.*97or*98) and prevent them being sent to Voip.ms. - Watch out for copy/paste and trailing spaces!

Otherwise, follow the Voip.ms Wiki for a similar Grandstream ATA. The settings don’t vary much between models.
Hopefully this will help someone. I currently have a HT812 and HT502 configured/working, but I’m pretty sure I’ve used a HT7XX in the past…
@William replied while I was writing this… worth reading his reply too!
Thank you for providing your information; it enhances both responses . ![]()
I have fought to get my HT702 registered for 3 days, and gone over every &$#(&(%# setting in the thing about a dozen times…. I just read your post, I copied & pasted the SIP, and there was a space in front of it…. problem fixed, THANK YOU!!!
Anyone have a working configuration dump for for HT702 ? It’s on the Advanced Settings screen, spits out a file with lines like “P183=2” that have all the settings. Feel free to edit it to remove names/numbers.
It’s registered (with a subaccount and TLS even), but always gives error tones for anything (e.g. 4443). SMS to email works, but that doesn’t touch the device. I’ve got a support ticket open, so hopefully they will get around to taking at trace soon to figure out WTF is going on.
