Help; No incomming calls using Grandstream HT801

Set up VOiP.ms account. Created DID. Configured Grandstream HT801 (on latest firmware) ATA as per VOiP.ms wiki examples (using HT802 as a guide). Would not register. Created sub -account and finally got ATA to register. Can now place outgoing calls but incoming calls do not go through.

Opened a ticket with support - crickets. At my wit’s end. This was supposed to be a 5 minute set-up and I’ve been at it for at least 14 hours.

Here is something to check:

On your Grandstream go to the profile page and find the Primary SIP Server. Since your Grandstream is working I will assume that you have that setting correct. It is recommended that you choose a server nearest to your location.

Go to Manage DID Numbers on the DID Numbers tab.

The “POP” should be listed in the far right column. You can edit the DID and scroll down to the DID Point of presence to see the full name and IP address of the chosen server. This must be the same server as on the Grandstream.

Thanks for your suggestion Jl66. I have the POP set the same in both the Grandstream and the DID configuration. (vancouver1.voip.ms).

Routing would be next item to check. On the Edit DID Settings page which radio button is selected?

I would select the top one “SIP/IAX” and make sure the working sub_account is selected to the right (not the main account since your HT801 is on the sub account).

I’m not sure which radio button on the edit DID settings you’re referring to.

For my sub account, SIP/IAX is selected. I’m not clear on what you mean by ‘‘working sub_account to the right’. I selected the DID I created (I only have one) when I set up the main account.

There’s something obviously goofy. I created the account and purchased a DID but I could not get my ATA to register to the new account. Only when I created a sub account did the ATA register. using it’s own sub account number, but the phone number when I created the DID.

It would be on the Edit DID screen. Inbound calls are directed to the option chosen here. If you are seeing “[main account]” change it to the sub account where your HT801 is registered.

They say, a picture is worth a thousand words and in this case, they’re right!. I made that edit to the DID and now the line is at least ringing in - haven’t checked with an actual call yet, but so far so good! Thanks so much Jl66. for your help with this.

I am glad you got it working. Now the fun stuff (voicemail, NOMOROBO,etc.).
