Anyone using VoIP.ms with Comcast (NOW) prepaid internet?

I’m curious if anyone here has experience running VoIP.ms on Comcast (NOW) prepaid internet.

From what I understand, Comcast (NOW) supplies older refurbished equipment for this service. I’d like to confirm whether that equipment includes both Ethernet ports and WiFi, and whether it works reliably with VoIP.ms.

I’ve spoken with a few individuals who are successfully using VoIP.ms with regular Comcast/Xfinity internet, but my understanding is that the (NOW) prepaid service is a little different. Before I look into it, I want to be sure the supplied equipment and service will support VoIP.ms without issues.

If anyone is currently using VoIP.ms with Comcast (NOW), I’d appreciate hearing about your setup and whether you’ve run into any limitations.

Thanks in advance!

We use voip.ms with Xfinity NOW regularly. No problems at all.

Thank you for the reply! That is really helpful to know. I am thinking strongly about switching my internet over to Comcast NOW, since the install is free, there is no contract, and I could always leave if it does not work out.

Just a non‑VoIP.ms question: does the NOW box they install inside the home come with WiFi and Ethernet ports built in (essentially acting as a router), or do you need to connect your own router to it?

You can use the built-in WiFi on the NOW router or you can plug in your own router with a cable or you can use a device like the Slate7 and expand the NOW’s WiFi coverage area.

Comcast NOW works great for us. It’s basically Comcast’s regular internet service limited to 100 Mbps down, 20 up, and you have to use their own equipment (they gave us an old Arris TG1682P gateway, but you can put it in Bridge Mode if you want to use your own router/firewall/wifi/switching). Uptime, latencies, etc. are equivalent to Comcast’s regular offering.

Thank you for all the feedback! It really helped me make a decision.

I decided to give Comcast NOW a shot, and I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised. I ordered the service Friday evening and the equipment showed up the very next day (today/Saturday), which I honestly did not expect.

I hooked everything up and the speeds are great. For $30 a month, you really can not beat it. I also connected my ATA for VoIP.ms and it’s working perfectly with no issues at all.
