Use soft phone and a physical phone attached to Grandstream HT202 v2

I have a physical phone in my office attached to a Grandstream HT202 v2. Which was working fine. I setup the Voip softphone on my cell phone. I was hoping I could use the actual phone in my office and the cell phone as a backup when I am out and about.

Now the actual phone rings busy when I try to call out but the app works fine both for call in and call out. The cell phone picks up for a call in.

Is it an either or type of setup? IE you use the app or you use a phone? If not is there a setting I am missing?

Thanks.

Hello @MDCan,

It looks like you are using the same “sub-account” (or the same main account) on both devices. If this is the case, you will run into trouble as both devices will try to register to voip.ms servers.

The easy way to fix this is to have each device with its own sub-account.

  • Each device should have its own sub-account.
  • You should avoid using your main account (for security reasons).

If you want to make both phones ring, create a Ring Group, add both sub-accounts to it, and route your DID to the Ring Group you just created when a call is coming in.

You will get exactly what you are looking for; it will work!

Other side tips:

  • Simply set the same voicemail account for both sub-accounts.
  • Have an extension number for each if you want to transfer calls from one to the other (or call the other device).
  • Also, I strongly suggest that you use TLS/SRTP (secure connection) for stability, if you do not already do so.

Kind regard!
