Text message receiving speed and passing on to softphone app has noticeable delays

I notice that compared with other VoIP apps I also use (Talkatone, TextNow) that rather than receiving text messages immediately there is a wait of tens of seconds for something like a bank confirmation code to arrive. I am using Groundwire, but looking at the dashboard in VoIP.ms it appears to be a delay in sending from VoIP.ms, rather than an issue in Groundwire.

I’d like to use VoIP.ms even more going forward, but was wondering if anybody is looking into the cause of those text delays. It would certainly slow down having text conversations the way it is now. Thanks.

Send the text message to your email. The live support helped me with this. I think it’s either in the account settings or under DID Numbers tab. You get the email/text immediately. Cheers

Thanks for your reply, but I don’t know what you mean. :slightly_smiling_face:

If I’m texting with someone, and having back and forth, how does having their texts emailed to me help?

True. It can be quite inconvenient. It’s just a work around for me. Honestly, I use whatsapp mostly.. But i use the voip texting mostly for the banks etc.. Cheers

Well, that’s the same with me. I also use WhatsApp and some other apps that people need to install. Or just Messages on my iPhone. Or LINE here in Japan.

Some banks have an option to send a confirmation code to email and some don’t. Some have both. If they send a confirmation code to my TextNow number or Talkatone number - poof - it’s there instantly. But if they send it to my VoiP.ms number (tapping finger, tapping finger, tapping finger) - eventually it comes, but it’s 10s of seconds later. I hope they can improve that some day. And also support MMS images!

I’m not clear what your workaround does though. But I’m curious. Thanks.

Are you using Premium or Value routing. Maybe it depends on that.

Sorry - no idea what that is!
