So I just found out that my building’s callbox does not allow/support dialing anything after the call is set. Therefore the IVR menu I had constructed doesn’t work for my callbox. Therefore I was wondering if it would be possible to just set the routing for my number to a sequence instead of IVR, so i can have it instantly unlock the door when I get dialed. But it seems that currently it’s not possible to route directly to a sequence without interaction from the caller. So this would be my suggestion, and thanks!
You can actually do it, but differently as you said. Use the CallerID Filtering feature, if the callbox shows a distinct CallerID when the call comes in.
In section 1. Select the type of filter: When CallerID Matches, set a specific CallerID Number to the one you get from the callbox.
In section 2. Select DIDs to apply Filter, choose the DID number that the callbox is calling
In section 3. Select Routing, instead of the IVR, choose the option that would open the door (the option that your IVR routes to for opening the door).
Be aware that anyone who knows the CallerID your callbox is using will then be able to open the door remotely by spoofing the CallerID.
Hi there, and thank you for your reply.
So I was following your steps but once I get to step 3 I reach the same routing choices as when i try to set the routing directly without callerID-filterring. The problem is that at step3 it doesn’t allow me to select the feature known as a “sequence”, which to my knowledge is the only way for my did to send back a DTMF response to unlock the door. From what I can tell, presently the only way to do this is to use an IVR to execute a “sequence,” but the problem is IVR does not run the sequence unless the caller pushes a key if I’m correct. I think my suggestion of allowing step 3 (the routing setup) to directly execute a selected “sequence“ would be the solution to this. Thank you very much for looking into my issue/suggestion.
