“Just a quick reminder that the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) annual Robocall Mitigation Database (RMD) recertification is coming up.
As a reminder, if you offer voice services in the United States, you are required to be registered in the RMD, and you must complete your recertification by March 1st, 2026, to remain compliant.”
So…. what does this really mean? I am a “reseller” in that I’ve got my parents and in-laws on accounts so they can keep their land lines, but certainly not a business creating hundreds of accounts. The email links to a 50 page document from FCC that purports to “explain” it. I actually did read large chunks of it and what I found is that there is a $100 registration fee and then $100 annual recurring fee. The whole reason I went with Voip.ms is that they were so much cheaper than any other option. But that seems to be erased with these new fees.
Does anyone have any insight into if this is legit and what it may entail?
I have the exact same situation. We have multiple offices and we backbill our offices as individual cost centers. All still the same company.. This shouldn’t apply to us either. I opened up a ticket, and of course no response. You can’t get anyone on sales or tech chat either.
We appreciate your bringing this concern to our attention. We recognize that other clients may have similar inquiries regarding this matter. It is important to clarify that the RMD recertification is intended for those who are commercially providing communication services to others. This includes individuals or entities that are reselling VoIP.ms services to third parties. If this does not apply to your situation, you may disregard the communication and continue to support your family as you are doing right now. The same applies if you are utilizing the reseller interface solely for management purposes; you may safely ignore the communication. I hope this clarifies the requirement.
