HT 801/802 Config

Hey all, hoping someone can shed some light on my issue. Trying to get an HT 801 configured for my parents with no luck so far. I’ve followed the wiki config for the HT802, unfortunately Grandstream have updated the config web interface, so a bit harder to make sure everything is set properly. As far as I know I have everything set properly, but service doesn’t stay active. After I apply the config I can make and receive a couple calls, but after approx. 2-3mins service stops. We can no longer call out and inbound calls go directly to voicemail.
Everything is linked properly using the sub account, etc. and not using TLS right now to keep things simple.
The reason for replacing the OBI was that we were getting similar behavior and thought it was the OBI failing. The ATA is directly connected to the Rogers Ignite modem. Is there something special when using the device on Rogers as well?

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts?

Same problem here. Began with only dialing tone when accessing voicemail. Updated the firmware on the HT802 but it always stated PORT STATUS Not Registered. Exchanging emails daily since August 28.

Tried many different times on different days to live chat and waiting but always got cut off by saying no activity. Using voip.ms since 2009 and usually these kind of problems could be fixed over live chat in few minutes. Now have to wait online response overnight.

Ouch ok :frowning: Ya I’ve been with voip.ms since 2010 and still use my original OBI200 and my parents since around 2014 with their OBI as well. But like I mentioned they started having the disconnect issues last year and thinking it was their OBI is what has prompted the change to a Grandstream device. Now I’m at a loss and almost to the point where they’re thinking of cancelling their voip.ms service and paying the cost of going with Rogers voip.

I’m not holding my not my breath but I also sent a email to support, but from what I’m hearing support is next to non-existent lately,

Finally it’s back to normal and the following is what I did:

  1. Changed IP to a static one
  2. Changed SIP password by selecting voip.ms random created one. (customer Portal/Acct Setting/Security/Main SIP/IAX Password/Set Random Password and Send Email)
  3. Prefer Primary SIP Server enabled
  4. NAT Traversal kept alive
  5. Local SIP Port: 42872
  6. Local RTP Port: 10000
  7. Check DID Point of Presence selected is identical in HT802 FXS Port

Not sure how but this combination works for my HT802. Hope it helps

I ran into something weird, but not your issue. In your case, since you got it going, it seems that you don’t have a keep alive going. I have an HT702 and played with all that junk and I think I don’t have a keep alive going at this point and it’s working. My honest issue was, and this is serious, the name I gave the sid. Finally after messing with everything I could think of, I changed the sid user name and it works fine. But, mine wouldn’t register, so not your issue.

I think the HT702 wiki has a keep alive setting on, maybe they missed that on the HT802 wiki? Just a thought.

It’s worth reading this thread https://community.voip.ms/t/grandstream-ht702-no-registration-found/3175/67 since most things apply to the Grandstream 802 too.

One gotcha with Grandstream is that copying/pasting can add hidden spaces to the end of usernames and passwords in their UI…
